Join SPIRE in Washington DC on Wednesday, March 8th for our first event of 2017. We are heading outside of Washington DC to Alexandria, Virginia for a tour of Cafritz Interests’ recently opened e-lofts

e-lofts’ first location, e-lofts Alexandria, opened in August 2016 at 4501 Ford Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia. Melanie Domres (‘86), Senior Vice President at Cafritz Interests and SPIRE Regional Director, will lead us on a tour and discussion about this innovative project.

What is e-lofts?  E-lofts is a proprietary brand of loft style apartment homes that can be occupied at all times as apartments, live/work units or small offices.  This unique offering is able to meet the demand of an already large and growing demographic with limited market alternatives. The most interesting part of the development?  The brand has a patent on the concept. Come learn more about it directly from Melanie.

e-lofts acquires vacant office buildings that contain tall ceilings, big windows, open floor plans and traditional office parking then converts the space into loft-style spaces that function for home and/or office use.  The average loft is between 650 and 1,200 square feet and a lease includes a number of amenities including a professional-grade fitness center, conference rooms and collaborative breakout workspaces, a pet salon, soundproof music practice rooms, media presentation rooms, community social kitchen, bicycle storage and many other features.

All e-lofts members - resident or business - sign a typical 12-month apartment style lease with a deposit and early termination provisions. With flexibility to be an office, apartment or live/work space, e-lofts immediately adapts to changing market conditions to meet demand wherever it is highest. e-lofts plans to add five additional locations in the Washington, DC metro area with an additional 50 and 100 locations throughout the US over the next decade with expansion funded through traditional debt and equity sources.

Dinner will be served following the tour.
